the ladder

The work is one.
The doors are four.

Every reading we have ever made begins the same way: a stranger at the threshold, a single question, a lamp lit in a dark room. What changes is how much of the room you wish to keep. None of these is a lesser craft — the doors differ in depth of relationship, never in quality. Choose the one that matches your appetite tonight; the others will wait. Doors here do not close on a timer.

THE COVENANT OF THE FIXED PRICE

This house has never held a sale, never issued a coupon, never whispered a code into an influencer's microphone, and never will.

What this buys you: the price you see today is the price everyone pays, this year and next. Never punished for buying early, never trained to wait. Your loyalty is met with recognition — anniversaries marked, tenure honored, keepers named — never with the insult of watching strangers pay less.

The fixed price is not a marketing stance. It is load-bearing. It is what lets the ladder hold its shape.

The reading guarantee

Read what you bought for forty days. If the work does not speak to you, write to us and we return the price in full — and you keep the book.

Asked often

Is the Essential a worse book?

No. It is a shorter one. Same text, same craft, half the extent — the difference between a lamp and a hearth, not between a real flame and a painted one.

What happens to my books if I cancel a membership?

Nothing. A book you own is yours; a membership you leave simply stops arriving. What you received while a member stays with you. We do not reach back.

Is the Current's Oracle a crippled version?

It is a scoped version, and the difference matters. Same engine, same voice, answering from the living corpus of this season — the boundary enforced at the retrieval layer, not by manners. The Canon scope hears more because it holds more.

Can I move between rungs later?

Yes, and you are never re-charged for what you already hold. Moving up credits the time you've paid for; moving down waits for the period you've paid out. The path from a book to the Canon is arithmetic, not negotiation.

Why do you never discount?

Because a price that drops was a price that lied. The reader who paid $90 in March should never learn that patience would have cost her less in November. The covenant is printed above, and it is a feature, not a limitation.

What exactly is "the Canon"?

Everything we have bound and everything we bind while you hold it: the thirty-six currents, the concordance, the Oracle across the whole, and the gatherings. The house entire, held rather than visited.

Is the Keeper's Canon really for life?

For as long as the house stands. If the house ever closes, keepers receive the entire Canon in archival form — downloadable, unrevocable. That is what "forever" means, written down.

Can I give a membership as a gift?

Yes: a year of the Current or the Canon, delivered with a gilt-lettered notice and no auto-renewal attached. A gift that bills the recipient is not a gift.
